MYSORE: Just as many writers are demanding introduction of Kannada as the medium of instruction for higher education, a workshop of language experts to develop scientific and technical terminology in Hindi and other Indian languages got under way in Mysore on Saturday. It was organised by the Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology, a constitutional bod. Its works in development of scientific and technical terminology in Hindi and other Indian languages are binding on all government agencies and educational institutions.
Higher education
Ramakrishna Mishra, scientific officer of the commission, told presspersons here that the purpose of the panel was to come out with technical and scientific words that could be used in higher education since most Indian languages had a common base and shared many a terminology. It had been set up in accordance with Articles 344 and 351 of the Constitution, he said.
