VISAKHAPATNAM: The colossal auditorium was filled with scores of youngsters in their school uniforms making the place a serious academic milieu. Making the most of all available resources -- from books to Internet, more than 550 students zestfully participated in the regional finals of the The Hindu Young World Quiz 2006 - the most eagerly-awaited annual national event managed by the Chennai-based 'Quizwalahs' that was held at the Port Kalavani auditorium here on Saturday. The brilliant team from Damanjodi in the neighbouring Orissa, Divyanshu Arora and Sambit Mishra of Delhi Public School walked away with the first prize trophy for the third consecutive time. But this time, the champions managed to retain the title only after a tough tie-breaker with the team from Kaizen Academy. "There was a moment of suspense during the tie-breaker, but we were confident that we would make it through even this time," said the confident duo. CMD of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Y. Sivasagar Rao, chief guest, gave away the prizes and trophies. The sizzling dais caught up heat as the finalists for the events were announced by Quizmaster V.V. Ramanan. Even as the finalists on stage played safe and allowed dicey questions to slip by, those in the audience grabbed them with gay abandon.
