Triangular fight in Padmanabhapuram

Six in fray for municipal chairperson post

Nagercoil: It is a tri-cornered contest between the DMK-led alliance, the AIADMK-led alliance and the BJP in the Padmanabhapuram municipality.

This is for the first time that all aspiring candidates (except a few) for the post of councillors are contesting as Independents.

21 wards

There are 21 wards in Padmanabhapuram municipal limits and 13,372 voters will cast their votes.

Mohammed Raffi, a lone Muslim candidate under the banner of BJP, is contesting for ward 6.

However there is a stiff competition among the candidates to occupy the post of Padmanabhapuram municipal chairperson.

More than six in fray

More than 6 persons are in the fray for the post of chairman, Sethu of CPI (M), Ravenkil of DMK, Gopal of AIADMK and an independent candidate from ward no 3 within Padmanabhapuram fort, Peer Mohammed Raffi of Congress and Mohammed Raffi of BJP.
