Haryana drivers threaten not to enter Delhi

SONEPAT: The Haryana Roadways Drivers' Union has decided not to drive buses to Delhi from October 30 in protest against "indiscriminate" challans by the Delhi police.

"The Roadways buses are being challaned by the Delhi police after the drivers did not allow the Delhi cops to travel free in them," said Raghbir Singh Kundu, Secretary of the Sonepat depot of the Roadways Employees Union, here on Saturday.

"The union has no alternative but to decide that the Roadways buses will not enter Delhi from October 30."

The matter has been taken up with the higher authorities of the Haryana Transport Department, he added.

He said the union had also decided to launch a signature campaign to mobilise the drivers of Haryana Roadways buses against taking their buses to Delhi unless their demands are accepted by the department. - PTI.
