NEW DELHI: With the Election Commission launching a fresh campaign here in the Capital to enrol new voters in the latest electoral rolls update that got under way from October 6, the Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress Committee has put into action block brigades of its workers to focus on youth and "to check bogus enrolment by the opposition BJP or its other rivals".

Giving this information here, the party's Delhi youth wing president Amit Malik disclosed that with the 20-day campaign already in full swing, the focus is on enrolling the young voters. The block brigades have been holding camps in various parts of the city to create awareness among the voters to get their names included in the voters' list in the run-up to the MCD polls scheduled for early next year.

Stating that the party workers were equipped with all the information about the polling centres and the forms required to get enrolled, Mr. Malik said people in general could also access such centres and fill up the forms that would be deposited by the party volunteers.

Stating that this exercise was important keeping in mind the upcoming civic body polls, Mr. Malik said the workers were also taking care that no bogus voters are got registered by anyone to bolster any party's prospects in a particular constituency.

He said the workers were also keeping a complete check on the addresses being furnished by those filing up their forms in order to ensure that only genuine voters got listed in the new rolls that would be published after the completion of the exercise on October 26.

Mr. Malik said the youth workers were already gearing up for the polls and would extend this exercise to each polling booth during the MCD polls so that proper verification is done about the antecedents of those eligible to vote.
