India-Pakistan talks likely in November
Nirupama Subramanian
ISLAMABAD:
The Foreign Secretaries of India and Pakistan will hold their long-awaited meeting to review the third round of the composite dialogue process in the second week of November, the Dawn reported on Saturday.
The meeting was to be held in July but was postponed indefinitely after the Mumbai blasts. The ice was broken at the Havana meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, and the two countries decided to continue the dialogue process.
The Foreign Ministry here has been saying that the Secretaries would meet most likely after the Ramzan month.
Pakistan expects India to present the claimed evidence against its Inter-Services Intelligence showing its alleged involvement in the Mumbai blasts.
The countries agreed in Havana to set up a joint institutional mechanism for intelligence sharing to prevent terrorist acts. The Foreign Secretaries may discuss the contours of this controversial mechanism.
