Nepal reports first dengue death

KATHMANDU: Nepal reported its first dengue-related death on Saturday. On the basis of clinical tests it was confirmed that a resident of the Tikulim area of Gaur died of dengue, the State-run National News Agency (RSS) reported.

The patient died while being taken to the District Health Centre, it said.

The Nepal Government had issued an alert in the country's southern parts after a spurt in dengue cases in neighbouring India.

Authorities said that there was no dengue case at Nepalgunj in Banke district bordering India.

All suspected dengue patients in Nepalgunj Medical College had been diagnosed negative, they said.- PTI
