HYDERABAD: After Wings of Fire, another book of President A.P.J Abdul Kalam Guiding Souls: Dialogues on the purpose of life translated into Chinese, will be launched at a function in Beijing on October 18. The book, which Mr. Kalam co-authored with his associate and former missile scientist Arun K. Tiwari, was translated by Ji Peng, an India expert with the Chinese Association for International Understanding, and brought out by the Contemporary Publishing House. Wings of Fire was also translated by Mr. Ji and published by the same agency. Mr. Tiwari, who is attending the book launch, told The Hindu that Wings of Fire was well received by Chinese readers. It was also published in Russian and Korean, besides most Indian languages.
"Inner experiences"
Describing Guiding Souls as an account of "inner experiences" of Mr. Kalam about what happened around him, Mr. Tiwari said, "He [Mr. Kalam] describes his life as a journey in which guidance was available whenever he was at cross-roads... " In a message for the function, Mr. Kalam said he was happy that the book was published in Chinese. "China and India belong to a cradle of flourishing civilisations. Books have been always part of our people. Great books lead to creativity, creativity leads to thinking, thinking provides knowledge and knowledge makes one great." He said, "In the journey of life, a good book becomes a great companion. Through books wisdom flows through generations and transposes human affairs for good. During difficult phases in human life, a book can provide the experience of great minds and wipes away tears ... "
