SHIMLA: The State BJP has alleged that the Virbhadra Singh government is now unnecessarily trying to influence and impede the ongoing probe into the recently held Combined Pre Medical Test scam. The party had made these allegations in a formal press conference here. The State High Court had ordered a fresh examination after serious irregularities and mass copying was proved in these examinations. The High Court judgment was upheld by the Supreme Court when the parents of some "tainted students" who were declared guilty by the investigative team had challenged the decision in the Apex Court. The three member police team constituted by the High Court had taken no time in proving the massive bunglings and cheating done in the exam conducted by the Himachal Pradesh University. But now surprisingly after three months not even a single arrest has been made of the guilty personnel and the same police investigative team is asking for more and more time, alleged the BJP. "Since a number of Congress men are involved in the scam the government is trying to delay the matter as much as it can", said the party spokesman Randhir Sharma. Even the High Court had observed on Thursday that it has a feeling that the investigative team is being pressurised and it was ready to change the members of the team if the need arises. The Advocate General in his reply had denied any pressures and said that the State government is cooperating in the matter. The double bench of the HC comprising Chief Justice Vinod Kumar Gupta and Justice Deepak Gupta granted just more months to complete the investigations instead of the six months as asked by the investigative team of three top police officials.
