St. Xavier's retains title

Nagercoil: St. Xavier's College, Palayamkottai, retained the title in the Manonmanium Sundaranar University inter-collegiate men's volleyball tournament organised by Sivanthi Adithanar College at Pillayarpuram on Sunday.

The results (final): St. Xavier's bt Adithanar 26-24, 31-29, 25-21; Third place: Scott Christian bt Vivekananda, Agatheeswaram 20-25, 25-12, 25-18; Semifinals: Adithanar bt Vivekananda 25-20, 18-25, 25-18, 25-16; St. Xavier's bt Scott Christian 22-25, 25-13, 23-25, 25-15, 15-13.

Sriram, Shiney win

M. Sriram of Meenakshi School and Shiney of Zion School won the boys' under-18 and girls' under-18 titles respectively in the school sectionin the district-level carrom tournament at Madurai.

Chandrasekar sizzles

R. Chandrasekar's five for 26 helped Majestic score a six-wicket win over Sam Babu XI (Kodaikanal) in the TNCA-Dindigul District Cricket Association first division league at Dindigul.

The scores: Sam Babu XI 96 in 21.5 overs (R. Chendrasekar five for 26) lost to Majestic CC 97 for four in 18.5 overs; APCC Pillayarnatham 201 for nine in 44 overs (P. Anandan 53 not out) lost to RVS SC 203 for eight in 34.3 overs (G. Sankarkumar 88 not out).
