NEW DELHI: While the "DDA Housing Scheme 2006'', under which two and three bedroom flats and expandable houses were offered by Delhi Development Authority, broke all records for sale of forms by selling as many as 3.20 lakh forms. However, the scheme could not set a new record in getting registrations, as only about 1.50 lakh registrations were received. The Festival Housing Scheme 2004 had managed to attract about 1.60 lakh registrations.
Demand
The DDA Housing Scheme 2006 that was launched on August 22 and closed on October 12, fetched DDA a princely sum of nearly Rs.5 crore through sale of forms alone. The demand for forms was so high that DDA which first printed 2 lakh forms, had to order printing on two more occasions to cater to the needs of the public desirous of having a house in Delhi. The large number of registrations have also put nearly Rs.2,250 crore in the kitty of DDA for at least three months as the registration amount for each application was Rs.1.5 lakhs. Despite DDA allowing only one registration per family and that too on the possession of a PAN, the number of registration was high as a number of banks took to financing of the registration amount for a non-refundable sum of nearly Rs.5,000. The response for the scheme was good because it offered as many as 3,500 flats and expandable houses in various premium localities. While three bedroom flats were offered in Sarita Vihar, Dwarka and Motia Khan, two bedroom ones were offered in Dwarka, Sarita Vihar, Rohini and Shalimar Bagh besides other places.
