KOLKATA: The mother unit of Dunlop India Ltd (DIL) at Sahagunj in Hooghly district will be reopened on October 31, Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, said here on Monday. State government officials said that while preliminary production would start accordingly, the contentious labour issues would get resolved subsequently. It may be mentioned that although the Ambattur unit of DIL had been reopened for maintenance work in April, matters had got delayed at Sahagunj owing to lack of consensus between the management and the trade unions on issues like manning pattern. Sources at the Ruia House, the corporate headquarters of Pawan Ruia, said that while initially a capacity of only 20 tonnes was being targeted against an installed capacity of 90 tonnes a day, this would be ramped up to 130 tonnes in phases.
