DHARWAD: The Government is planning to upgrade the Karnataka Institute of Mental Health (KIMH) on the lines of National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Medical Education Minister V.S. Acharya has said. He was speaking here on Sunday after inaugurating the new building on the KIMH premises, constructed at a cost of Rs. 6.5 crores. The Government would be initiating requisite process shortly. It was being planned to make KIMH an affiliated institute of NIMHANS. There was plan to train doctors in mental health issues and depute them to primary and community health centres in taluks and hoblis, he said.
