CPI for early meeting of DPA parties

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The State unit of the Communist Party of India (CPI) on Monday stressed the need for convening a meeting of the parties of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) soon to find a solution to the problems caused by irregularities in the elections to the Chennai Corporation on October 13.

In a statement here, State CPI secretary D. Pandian said voters were prevented from exercising their franchise in several booths in the city.

Anti-social elements were said to have resorted to booth capturing in some areas. It was very disturbing that the police remained mute spectators when such incidents took place, he said.
