THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A common theme that runs through all the works of poet O.N.V. Kurup is the cause of the downtrodden and the marginalized and the need for their upliftment, Education Minister M.A. Baby on Monday said. He was speaking after presenting this year's Vallathol Award to the poet at a function held here.
Along with P. Bhaskaran and Wayalar Rama Varma, O.N.V. imparted a high quality to music in dramas and films. District Collector N. Ayyappan sang the famous O.N.V. number Madurikkum Ormakale... on the occasion. Litterateur George Onakkoor read out the poet's acceptance speech. The former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kerala G. Balamohan Thampi and former MP Thalekkunnil Basheer were among those who participated in the function.
