TIRUPUR: A newspaper is a mini library for readers. And it acts as a bridge between the past and the present, said K.R. Ramamoghan, resource person of The Hindu Newspaper in Education programme. It was inaugurated at St. Joseph's Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Vidhya Vikashni Matriculation Higher Secondary School and Velavan Matriculation Higher Secondary School here recently. The resource person explained the history of The Hindu , which was started by six young men during the British rule in 1878. He said that the newspaper was the first in the country to have aircraft to deliver the paper to various cities, where the paper did not have publishing facility then. Since newspapers cover all the subjects and cater to the interests of the public at large they can be considered living textbooks.
