This Day That Age
Wing Commander Aly Sabry, President Nasser's political adviser, said in Cairo on October 17 that Suez Canal talks between Britain, France and Egypt would be resumed within a week or 10 days possibly in Geneva. "But this is not yet fixed," he said, adding that the talks would be between the Foreign Ministers of the three countries. Wing Commander Sabry, just back from New York which he visited for the UN Security Council talks on Suez, said Egypt was "ready for international cooperation but not international domination." He said Egypt insisted on her attitude against international control of the canal. Egypt had made her counter-proposals to the Security Council and these were: revision of the 1888 Convention, fixing of tolls, and maintenance and improvement of the canal.
