dated October 18, 1956: Contest in Andhra

With both Mr. B. Gopala Reddi, Chief Minister, and Mr. N. Sanjiva Reddi, Deputy Chief Minister, deciding definitely not to withdraw and to contest the election for the leadership of the Legislature Congress Party of Andhra Pradesh, all speculation as to one or the other withdrawing from the contest has ceased. Speculation about attempts to bring about a unanimous choice of the leader has also been set at rest and both sides have reconciled themselves to an inevitable contest. The election is to be held on October 21.
