Playing a whole range of roles

"WITH LUV TUMHARA": Praveen Dabas, Preeti Jhangiani and Nakul Vaid

He was very serious about giving the highly respected Civil Services a try. But destiny had something else in store for Praveen Dabas.

Praveen, who made waves in the much talked about film "Monsoon Wedding", was in Delhi this past week. He was full of beans about his upcoming Hindi film, "With Luv Tumhara", in which he plays the protagonist opposite the ravishing Preeti Jhangiani.

The actor made his debut in "Dillagi" that starred the famous Deol brothers in 1999 and since then there has been no stopping him. "I am playing the role of Praveen Khanna, a captain in the Indian Army, in "With Luv Tumhara". My colleague Akshay (Nakul Vaid) and I are fighting in the Kargil war. Both of us have an understanding that in case either of us is not able to come out of the battle alive or goes missing, then we will not send the news to the bereaved family through telegram but would personally go to the family and break the sad news. After Akshay goes missing, I go to meet his parents and there I also bump into Preeti Jhangiani, who is the former's fiancée," says Praveen.

The young actor had a thoroughly joyous experience recently working with accomplished actors Anupam Kher and Boman Irani in the socially-relevant comic satire "Khosla Ka Ghosla". He shared a good on-screen chemistry with the duo. "The on-screen rapport that I share with the two actors is evident in the film," adds the actor.

Praveen is also pinning high hopes on another yet-to-be-released film titled "The Memsahib" directed by R. Majumdar, a non-resident Indian. "I am playing the male lead in the film that has been set in Gujarat. It stars Emily Hamilton," he adds. -- Madhur Tankha
