Puducherry
Special Correspondent
Puducherry: P. Ayyanarappan, president of the Puducherry Munnetra Trade Union Congress, has urged Chief Minister N. Rangasamy to declare 37 per cent bonus for the workers of the Sri Bharathi Mills and Swadeshi Cotton Mills so that they would be brought on a par with the AFT Mills here in so far as payment of the festival bonus is concerned. In a release here on Monday, Mr. Ayyanarappan said that all the three mills were undertakings of Puducherry Government. The Sri Bharathi Mills and Swadeshi Mills were taken over by the Territorial Government from the control of the NTC about a year ago and hence the 37 per cent rate of bonus declared for employees of the AFT Mills should be automatically made applicable to these two mills as well. He said that it would be unfair to decide payment of Rs. 7,000 for these two mill workers. Parity should be maintained among all the mill workers without difference, he pointed out.
