Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) Secretary, C.R. Vijayaraghavan, said Hemang Badani's letter requesting the TNCA for a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) would be placed before the Executive Committee. He was non-committal about the date. Interestingly, Badani's name figures among the State team probables. However, he has not attended the on-going camp so far. Explaining this, Badani has said that since he had applied for an NOC, he felt it would not be morally right for him to participate in the camp till the TNCA took a decision on his request. The fact that Badani played in the Buchi Babu competition, which is viewed by the TNCA as a selection tournament, might prove a roadblock for the former State captain in getting the clearance to represent some other State. Reacting to this, State selection panel chief V.B. Chandrasekhar said, "As far as we are concerned, he is already in the list of probables, which means he is eligible for selection here. But he, probably, will have to send a letter to the TNCA explaining why he has missed the camp so far." Chandrasekhar was also in favour of the State Associations following the footsteps of the BCCI having annual contracts for the Ranji Trophy players. "I think it will help both ways. It will make the players feel more secure. It will also give the Association a clear idea about the cricketers who will be available for the season."
