ANANTAPUR: A first-year MBA student of Sri Krishnadevaraya University (SKU) campus here allegedly attempted to consume some pills, unable to withstand the ragging by her seniors late on Monday night. The university authorities, however, tried to cover up the incident by counselling and warning the students of serious repercussions. Sources in the university stated that the girl had, in fact, complained to the university officials in the night itself that senior girls in the hostels had been ragging and harassing her for the past few weeks. She was allegedly asked by her seniors in the hostel to perform a dance in spite of pleading her inability, stating that she had pain in the stomach. Unable to stand the harassment, the girl allegedly tried to consume some pills, presumably sleeping pills, but was prevented by some seniors as wiser counsel prevailed over them at the right moment. Meanwhile, a team of university authorities led by Rector C.R. Visveswar Rao and Registrar R. Ramakrishna Reddy went round all the hostels and the departments in the morning.
