France too rules out comparison

NEW DELHI: France on Tuesday joined the United States and Britain in rejecting a comparison between the nuclear programmes of India and North Korea.

"You cannot compare India and North Korea," French Ambassador to India Dominique Girard said. The North Korean nuclear test might in turn help New Delhi. "The North Korean incident is putting more emphasis on the question of proliferation. What that [North Korean test] can do is to enhance the perception that India has had a perfectly clean behaviour."

New Delhi had a "very responsible behaviour, which is clear to everybody."
