Art contests

Thrissur: District-level pencil drawing, cartooning and watercolour painting competitions will be held at the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Hall here on October 28 under the auspices of the Kerala Lalitakala Akademi, Government College of Fine Arts and the Image Multimedia as part of International Animation Day celebrations. The competitions are open for those in the age group 16 - 24. Those who wish to take part should register their names with the organisers (0487-238 3117) before October 23, according to a release. — Staff Reporter

Money reported missing from hotel

Thrissur: The Town East police said they received a complaint on Monday that a sum of Rs.1.02 lakh was reported missing from a private hotel here. The police said a receptionist of the hotel, Prabhakaran, 38, of Karuna Nivas in Kasaragod, was absconding.

Marble figure unveiled

Thrissur: A 10-ft marble figure of Lord Mahavishnu, installed on the Sreevalsam compound near the Guruvayur temple, was unveiled on Monday. The figure, sculpted by Kalicharan, was donated by a devotee from Kashmir. — Staff Reporter
