An artificial victory, says Jayalalithaa

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary Jayalalithaa has said the Madurai (Central) by-poll result was "expected."

In a statement on Tuesday, she described it an "artificial victory" achieved by the ruling party by resorting to all forms of irregularities, and added that the AIADMK had emerged victorious after facing bigger setbacks.

The votes polled in Madurai did not reflect the true desire of the electorate, she said, adding that victory and loss were not permanent in politics.
