Woolmer is fine with us: Nasim Ashraf

Karachi: Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Nasim Ashraf has put to rest speculation regarding coach Bob Woolmer's equation with the new regime, saying he would continue with the national team till next year's World Cup.

``He is fine with us. He will remain as coach till the World Cup,'' Ashraf was quoted as saying by the The News on Tuesday.

Nasim also ruled out the role of the team management, including coach or players' doctors in the positive testing of fast bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif.

``Woolmer is our coach till the World Cup after which we will think about renewal of contract etc.,'' he said.

PCB sources had said Woolmer was seen as a liability by the new PCB regime and the last six months of his contract might not be as comfortable as they have been since former Chairman Shaharyar Khan's tenure.

"...with him (Shaharyar) now gone, the situation could change dramatically. Woolmer's only salvation now is that the team performs to its optimum level in the run-up to the World Cup or we might well see more changes in the team management,'' sources had said. — PTI
