Three women commit suicide

GUNTUR: Three women committed suicide in two separate incidents in Guntur district on Tuesday.

While 30-year-old Kagga Lakshmi of Uppalapadu on Guntur outskirts committed suicide on the District Collector's office premises in the afternoon when she did not find anyone to complain to on her grievance. She brought along a bottle of pesticide and consumed it near the H-Section of the Collector's office.

The Administrative Officer rushed the woman in his car to General Hospital, but she died there while being treated. A native of Bongaralabeedu in the city, she was married six years ago and has two children, but her husband from Uppalapadu did not look after her well.

This had led to another person from Uppalapadu harassing her, which she resisted for long and finally shifted to her mother's house in the city sometime ago, but the harassment continued, according to her relatives.

In another case at Damarapalli in Tadikonda mandal of Guntur district mother-in-law and daughter-in-law duo consumed pesticide after a minor verbal duel and died even before medical aid could be given.

Married a couple of months ago Nagamani, 20, had an argument with her mother-in-law Mariamma, 38, over some domestic chores and it went to such an extent that she consumed pesticide while both their husbands were away in the field.

When Nagamani saw her mother-in-law swoon, she also consumed pesticide from the same container.
