GULBARGA: Karnataka Minister for Major and Medium Industries Katta Subramanya Naidu on Tuesday unveiled an innovative job training scheme for unemployed youth as part of the Suvarna Karnataka celebrations. Training for a period ranging from three to 12 months will be provided in various industries, beginning November this year. Mr. Naidu told presspersons here that the Government, in association with major industries in the State, would provide training to at least 1 lakh unemployed youth, who would be given a stipend of Rs. 1,500 a month. The stipend would be shared equally by the Government and the industries concerned. Though the industries need not absorb the trainees after the training period, the exposure would provide them with different skills to enable them to set up their own industries or look for jobs elsewhere. Already 70,000 applications had been received and the selection process would begin shortly, he said. At the end of the training period, the Government would give them a certificate of proficiency.
