BJP endorses Sorabjee's remark

`Complaining against it means challenging Supreme Court'

Wants YSR and Ministers to take responsibility KCR's remarks on Telugu Talli criticised

N. Indrasena Reddy

HYDERABAD: The Bharatiya Janata Party said that the State Cabinet's move to lodge a complaint against former Attorney General, Soli Sorabjee in the wake of his remarks on clemency to Gouru Venkat Reddy amounted to challenging the Supreme Court.

BJP president N. Indrasena Reddy and vice-president S. V. Seshagiri Rao at a press conference here on Tuesday said there was nothing objectionable in what Mr. Sorabjee had said recently.

Mr. Reddy said the Cabinet had recommend clemency to Venkat Reddy and Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and his council of Ministers have to take responsibility for the act.

TDP seeks debate

Meanwhile, the Telugu Desam Party sought a debate on the clemency case.

At a press conference, TDP spokesman M.V. Mysoora Reddy and legislator E. Dayakar Rao said it was `unfortunate' that Dr. Reddy had used Monday's Cabinet meeting to publicise twisted facts to cover up his mistakes, Mr. Rao said.

`Let there be a debate. Let people know who is greater - the law and the constitution or Dr. Reddy,' he said.
