HYDERABAD: The Government will seek Rs 1,100 crores from the Centre to implement satellite-aided integrated land survey in the entire State. It is now being implemented in Nizamabad district as a Rs. 35-crore pilot project named Integrated Land Information System. The Government will approach the World Bank as a "second option" if the Centre doesn't respond. This decision was taken at review of the project by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy here on Tuesday. The meeting named the State-wide project as "Bhubharati". It will be launched by Dr. Reddy on November 14, covering 12 mandals, initially in Nizamabad. Mr. Prasada Rao told reporters that the survey project would solve land-related problems that cropped up in the absence of such an exercise in the last century. Once the survey was completed, "conclusive titles" would be given to public at the time of registration with suitable changes in records of the sub-registrar office. The Minister said the National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA) had completed aerial photographing of 6,300 sq.km. of rural and 390 sq.km. of urban lands in Nizamabad as the first part of the pilot project. Staff and agencies were being appointed to take up the next part shortly -- a physical survey based on satellite imageries. Vinod Kumar Agrawal, Commissioner, Survey, Settlements & Land Records, said the meeting finalised a blueprint to complete the survey for the State in three years. A law would be enacted in consultation with retired Supreme Court judges to give legal sanctity to the software being developed now to implement the results of the survey.
