Speed up Vamsadhara land acquisition work, officials told

    SRIKAKULAM: Stressing the need for cooperation among various departments in speeding up execution of Vamsadhara project works, particularly land acquisition and implementation of Relief and Rehabilitation (RR) package, Joint Collector M. Veerabrahmaiah, who is also the administrator of RR package, has instructed the officials concerned to deposit compensation amount in a civil court and acquire the land in case there is a dispute. Such disputes should not be allowed to come in the way of progress of work, he said while reviewing Vamsadara land acquisition work here on Tuesday.

    Directive to MROs

    He was unhappy over progress of land acquisition at the Unit-4. Funds of Rs.15 crores was available for this unit, why there was no progress, he asked the land Acquisition officer concerned.

    He also instructed mandal revenue officers to obtain an undertaking from displaced families with regard to the rehabilitation colony where they want to settle. Resolution from gram panchayats concerned should also be obtained. Mr. Veerabrahmaiah wanted village-wise plans for rehabilitation of displaced families.

    There were yet 40,000 trees on the lands to be acquired and evaluated. He wanted this to be expedited. Displaced families with shops at the Gotta barrage, Hiramandalam, should be given sites for shops at Subhalaya Colony where they had to be accommodated.

    Project Superintending Engineer K. Sudheer, District Revenue Officer B. Yadagiri, Revenue Divisional Officers -- S. Venkateswara Rao (Srikakulam), P.M.J. Babu (Palakonda), Ramalakshmi (Tekkali) - and others participated.
