HASSAN: About the demand by the coalition partner in the Government, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for judicial probe into the recent communal violence in Mangalore, Chief Minister H.D. Responding to the problem being faced by copra growers in Tiptur and Arsikere area, he told presspersons on his way to Chikmagalur that the Government was not averse to the idea of purchasing the produce by fixing a support price and was prepared to allocate Rs. 3 crore for the purpose.

About the condition of Shiradi Ghat road, he said he along with Public Works Minister H.D. Revanna had met the Union Minister for Highways T.R. Baalu in New Delhi recently and urged him to take up work on laying rigid concrete pavement.

The Minister had assured to send a team of officials to study the problem, he said.

    Meeting

"In case of failure on part of the Centre expedite the work, the State Government will seek permission for repairing the road."

"A meeting of National Highway authorities had been convened on October 19 to discuss the problem," he said.
