KOZHIKODE: The Land Use Board will conduct essay and painting contests for school and college students as part of a national awareness campaign on conservation of natural resources. The contests for schoolchildren will focus on the `Relevance of rain water conservation in Kerala' and `The Kerala of my dreams' respectively. The topics of the essay and painting contests for college students are `The protection of natural resources in Kerala' and `The threat from industrial pollution' respectively. The essay should be written in Malayalam. For schoolchildren the essay should not exceed five pages and for college students not more than 10 pages.
Entries
The entries with the due certification by the head of the educational institution should reach the Commissioner, Kerala Land Use Board, Vikas Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram-33, by October 31. Cash prizes of Rs.3,000, Rs.2,000 and Rs.1,000 will be awarded to the first three winners in both categories for each of the contests.
