JAIPUR: The National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) is proposed to be implemented in Kota division of Rajasthan with active participation of the people's elected representatives. Regular meetings under the mission will be held in remote villages and the District Collectors will undertake weekly review of progress of the mission. Kota Divisional Commissioner J.C. Mohanty issued these instructions at a meeting of Collectors held through video conferencing on Tuesday and underlined the need to popularise NRHM on the lines of the literacy drive. Mr. Mohanty said a survey to formulate an action plan would be undertaken shortly and its findings computerised before the New Year begins. Mr. Mohanty suggested that voluntary organisations and private sector be associated with the works launched under NRHM to ensure their effective implementation. Besides, steps should be taken to bring out a regular bulletin, register pregnant women at Anganwadi Kendras and encourage them to go for institutional deliveries. The Divisional Commissioner said the Collectors would ensure utilisation of funds allocated under the mission and submit utilisation certifications on time. He noted that medical tests of 10-lakh schoolchildren were conducted in the division recently and said a follow-up action on this front should be taken in due course.
