Chapra: In a major relief to senior JD (U) MP Prabhunath Singh and three others, including his MLA brother Kedar Nath Singh, a man who was believed to have been killed by them suddenly surfaced to allege that the complaint filed by his wife was "politically motivated". Bachcha Singh turned up before the Deputy Inspector General of Saran range Rampravesh Singh on Monday evening and submitted a petition saying the allegation levelled by his wife against the JD(U) leader and his relatives was "false". This was to forestall his deposition in an old murder case against the MP being tried in Bhagalpur, he said. "My wife was influenced by former RJD MLA Tarkeshwar Singh to file the false case against the MP," he said, adding that he had never been pressurised by Prabhunath Singh to give any statement in his favour during a deposition in an earlier case in which he is a witness. "I had deposed before the court trying the case against Mr. Singh on September 11 and I have received no threat from him," Bachcha Singh said in his submission. When contacted, DIG Rampravesh Singh also confirmed it and said legal action was being taken in this connection. Bachcha Singh's wife Jyotiya Devi had on October 10 filed a case in a local court alleging that her husband was suspected to have been killed by Prabhunath Singh and three others.
