Blue Dart to induct third freighter

CHENNAI:
Blue Dart Aviation, a unit of Blue Dart, South Asia's courier and integrated air express package distribution company, will induct its third Boeing-757 freighter by March next to augment its fleet capacity to eight from the present seven.
Niteen M. Gupte, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Blue Dart Aviation, told mediapersons on Monday that the aviation unit, which had a 40 per cent market share, was formed in May 1994, and the operations were launched in June 1996. "Our aviation wing has completed a decade of service with a fleet of five Boeing-737 and two Boeing-757 freighters operating to seven metros."
It had recently leased two Boeing-757 at a cost of Rs.67 crore. Between January and December last year, the company had carried 49 million shipments, weighing over 125,000 tonnes.
