DMK planning to let loose violence: Jayalalithaa
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI:
All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary Jayalalithaa on Tuesday urged the State Election Commission (SEC) and the police to take precautionary measures to prevent violence during the counting of votes in the local body elections.
In a statement here, Ms.Jayalalithaa said she had "reliable information" indicating that the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam activists were planning to "let loose large-scale violence" at the counting centres if the election trends went against their party.
A large number of identity cards for counting agents had been reportedly issued in the corporation and rural areas, she said calling for impartial measures by the SEC and the police.
