Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has urged the State Government to pay 20 per cent bonus for 2005-06 to transport and electricity workers and employees of a host of other government undertakings.

According to a press release, the government should also pay Rs.1,000 ex-gratia to the contract workers of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board.

The release was issued at the end of the CITU state office-bearers meeting here on Tuesday.

Some of the other organisations, for whose employees the CITU sought a 20 per cent bonus, include TASMAC, public sector sugar mills, cooperative cotton mills and civil supplies.

The meeting was chaired by the CITU state president J. Hemachandran.
