Power shutdown

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended on Wednesday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in Foreshore Estate, Thatchi Arunachalam Street, New Street, NMK Street, Madha Church Road, Mandaveli Street, II Trust Main Road and Periapalli Street.

Ticket checking drive

A ticket checking drive, carried out by Southern Railway in suburban and express trains at Perambur on Tuesday, helped to detect 665 cases of irregular travel. Footboard travellers were also penalised. A total fine amount of Rs. 1.55 lakh was collected. A team of 138 ticket checking staff and 50 railway protection force personnel conducted the drive under the supervision of Chennai Divisional Railway Manager, Man Singh.

EMU service

Southern Railway will introduce a through EMU local train from Chennai Beach to Chengalpattu on Wednesday.

The service combines the existing S11 Chennai Beach-Tambaram and TC9 Tambaram-Chengalpattu. The EMU (BC1A) will leave Beach Station at 6 a.m., and reach Tambaram at 6.55 a.m. and Chengalpattu at 7.50 a.m.

Executive chair car

An executive chair car coach will be provided in Shatabdi Express in the Chennai Central-Mysore-Chennai Central sector (No: 2007/ 2008) from Wednesday, a Southern Railway release said.

Fun with colour

The Mylapore Academy will conduct a painting and fancy dress competition for school students on November 5.

The painting competition begins at 9 a.m. and the fancy dress contest at 2.30 p.m. at National Public School in Gopalapuram. Call 24642263 or 24345474 for details.

Blood donation

camp

The NSS and NCC students of D.G. Vaishnav College recently held a blood donation camp.

The units of blood were sent to seven Government hospitals. M. Rajamony, Head of NSS Regional Centre, inaugurated the programme.

Management seminar

A seminar on excellence in management through six sigma techniques will be organised by the department of Corporate Secretaryship of Anna Adarsh College on Wednesday.

R. Shekar, Principal Consultant of Gold Ratt India, will inaugurate the session. Resource persons from top companies including Ford and Wipro will speak on business models.
