VIJAYAWADA: A consignment consisting of 50 pressure mine shells was booked in Kranthi Road Transport Private Limited in Nellore five months ago and was carted between the city and Komaravolu in Prakasam district.

Narrating the sequence, assistant commissioner of police (central zone) M. Satyanarayana Rao on Tuesday said the consignment was booked in Nellore office of the transport company on May 8, 2006 by one K. Satyanarayana and was addressed to the same person in Vijayawada. After receiving the consignment on May 26, Satyanarayana booked the consignment to one Rangaswami of Komaravolu in Prakasam district the same day.

Rangaswami received the consignment on July 10 and again forwarded to one Ananda Rao of Vijayawada the same day through the transport company. The company kept the consignment in its office in Augonagar in the city for three months and shifted it to its godown on October 15, from where the police seized it on Tuesday.

Mr. Satyanarayana Rao said that the addressee might be frightened by the raids conducted by the police on the godowns of the transport company (in the wake of the rocket launchers case) and did not want to take a risk by collecting the consignment.

    Cases booked

They would be sent to the forensic laboratory in Hyderabad. Cases were registered against K. Satyanarayana, Rangaswami and Ananda Rao under Sections 25 of the Arms Act, 8 of the A.P. Security Act and 120B of the IPC (conspiracy against State).
