Schemes for inland fish farming

KOCHI: The Government will give shape to schemes to encourage inland fish farming in the State, Fisheries Minister, S. Sarma has said. He said Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan would inaugurate the aqua-technology park to be set up in Kodungaloor for the development of ornamental fisheries in November. Mr. Sarma was speaking after inaugurating the community-fisheries scheme at Kunnukara grama panchayat. — Staff Reporter

Bank staff dharna today

KOCHI: Bank employees, under the banner of United Forum of Bank Unions, will hold a dharna in front of the Federal Bank office, Menaka, on Wednesday in protest against the move to `scuttle' social-security schemes and social-development banking. The forum gave a call for bank strike on October 27. — Staff Reporter

Workshop on cosmetic surgery

KOCHI: Specialists Hospital will organise a three-day workshop on cosmetic surgery of the nose from October 20. Expert doctors from the U.K. will be among the participants. MBR Trust Managing Trustee Nalini Rajappan will inaugurate the workshop. — Staff Reporter
