Bombs found on court premises

Staff Reporter

Thiruvananthapuram: The Rural police on Tuesday defused six locally made bombs, which were found on the terrace of the court complex at Kattakada.

According to the police, a chemical charge of Potassium chlorate and Aluminium powder was used to make the bombs. A sweeper woman discovered the explosives while cleaning the terrace of the building. The bombs were found in a plastic cover.

Following the discovery, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad of the State police inspected the building. The court is housed in a multi-storeyed building owned by the Kattakada Panchayat.

The police said that a tense situation had been prevailing in the area because of a violent stand-off between CPI (M) and RSS workers.
