READY RECKONER: Minister for Local Administration Paloli Mohammed Kutty presenting the Citizens' Charter to freedom fighter K.E. Mammen on Tuesday.
Thiruvananthapuram: Minister for Local Self-Government Paloli Mohammed Kutty on Tuesday released the Citizens' Charter of the City Corporation. At a function held at the Gandhi Park, he handed over a copy to veteran freedom fighter K.E. Mammen to mark the release of the document, which details the services offered by the local body and the rights of the citizens. Mayor C. Jayan Babu, V.Sivankutty MLA, Deputy Mayor V.Jayaprakash, chairmen of various standing committees and council party leaders, Corporation Secretary T.K. Raveendran and senior civic officials were present. The charter spells out the organisational set up and infrastructure of the Corporation office and allied institutions, material assets, the services available and the officials, rules and regulations, time frame for processing various applications and the grievance redressal mechanism. It also provides information on the constitution and responsibilities of various statutory committees and the rights and responsibilities of citizens. The publication of the charter is a mandatory requirement under the Right To Information Act. The first Citizens Charter of the City Corporation was published in the year 2000.
