ESI hospitals to have adequate stock of medicines

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The ESI Corporation has developed software to detect double registration of members, said U.H. Rao, Regional Director of the corporation, here on Wednesday.

He was speaking at an interactive session on ESI and Provident Fund, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry here on Wednesday.

Mr. Rao said the number of double registrations was comparatively higher in Ernakulam. He said arrangements had been made to ensure adequate stock of medicines in ESI hospitals in Kerala. The ESI Corporation remitted money to the State Government for supplying medicines. There was a contract pertaining to the rates of medicines. The new arrangement had lessened the problem of non-availability of medicines, he said.

Regional Provident Fund Commissioner N. Balachandran Nair, who participated in the programme, explained various measures being taken for speedier remedial measures to settle the grievances. The social security card to be distributed to PF subscribers would help streamline the entire process in a better way, he said.

M.K. Koshy, former president of CII, Kerala, spoke. Representatives of various companies narrated the problems faced by the companies in respect of the services of the two departments.
