COIMBATORE: Robert Bosch India plans to invest 325 million euro (Rs. 1,800 crore) between 2005 and 2008, Chairman, Robert Bosch Gmbh, Germany, Franz Fehrenbech, said here on Wednesday. Participating in the inauguration of the company's phase II, he said the business volume of the company in India had quadrupled. With over 15,000 associates at seven locations, this was the biggest Indo-German company. In 2005 alone, it achieved total consolidated sales of 729 million euro (Rs. 4,000 crore). The Union Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dayanidhi Maran, who inaugurated the facility, said the State Government was keen to position Coimbatore as an important IT destination.
Skilled manpower
Friedhelm Pickhard, Managing Director, Robert Bosch India, said the Coimbatore facility had 125 associates and it would be increased to 2,500. And the decision to come to Coimbatore was based on the availability of skilled manpower graduating from many good engineering colleges in this region.
