NEW DELHI: Karnataka Home Minister M.P. Prakash called on Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil on Wednesday and discussed the recent communal violence in Dakshina Kannada district. He pointed out that while the top brass of the police led by the Director-General and Inspector-General of Police B.S. Sial camped in the district and supervised the operations to restore normality, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and himself visited the district to re-establish the confidence of the people. He also noted that the police had registered 156 cases and that the State Government had already asked the Corps of Detectives to investigate the cause of violence and suggest measures to ensure that such incidents did not recur.
