NEW DELHI: It's going to be a circus without animals, the usual pair of white-faced clowns and acrobatics. And it is going to be a combination of theatre, contemporary dance and, of course, traditional circus. French troupe Meli-Melo, through its production "A quoi tu penches?" (What are you leaning on?) is soon going to bring aerial circus to Delhi. Teaming up with actress Caroline Guyot, choreographer Danilo Luna Florez will attempt to combine the talents of the actors to "enact in the ring" a lovely story about the uncertainties of adolescence and the passage into adulthood. However, the five artistes -- Tania Malaquin, Jeremie Mallard, Sebastien Peyre, Amaury Roussel and Celia Guibbert -- along with a group of jugglers and acrobats will be "enacting" the story not through dialogue but only through body movements. The performance entails the prime artistes conjuring up breathtaking feats on a ladder symbolising the divide between adolescence and adulthood. While one side will depict adolescence, the other will represent adulthood and how the characters move from one side to the other. Those wanting to enjoy the performance, being jointly organised by the French Embassy and Alliance Francaise de Delhi, will have to be at The Ashok Amphitheatre in Chanakyapuri here on October 24.
