CHENNAI: In the wake of the surrender of Raghu alias Srinivasa Reddy and Sudharani of Nellore at the Gudur police station, in the case relating to the seizure of empty rocket launchers and shells, a Tamil Nadu police team is leaving for Andhra Pradesh to conduct a joint interrogation. If required, they would be brought to Chennai in the next few days, Tamil Nadu Director-General of Police D. Mukherjee told The Hindu on Wednesday, when contacted. The duo had to be produced before the jurisdictional court and taken into police custody for eliciting more information about the crime, police sources said. During the custody period, they might be brought to Chennai. Initially, investigation of the case in Andhra Pradesh would have to be completed. It was in Achambedu police station limits in Mahaboobnagar district that the lorry carrying rocket launchers and spares packed in gunny bags was seized on September 7. After the seizure, the Chennai link came to light when police enquiries revealed that the gunny bags had been booked through Kranti Lorry Transport at Mannurpet, Ambattur, on the city's outskirts. The gunny bags had been booked as "spinning mill spares" by a person claiming himself to be Srinivasa Reddy. The owners of six engineering units, located at Padi, Korattur and Mogappair, which manufactured the parts, and the agent of the lorry company, were arrested. The activities of Raghu and Sudharani, who escaped from Chennai on September 9, needed to be probed further, the police said.
