VIJAYAWADA: V.K.R College, Buddhavaram lifted the Acharya Nagarjuna University kho-kho title for women. In the league format, V.K.R College defeated J.M.J. College (Tenali) 18-2, K.V.R. & M.K.R College, (Kazipalem) 11-2 and KVR Government College (Nandigama) 12-2 to emerge as winner.
Sathavahana impresses
Vijayawada Sathavahana College and SRR & CVR College scored two wins in the league format in the ANU inter-collegiate netball championship for men held at SRR & CVR College here on Wednesday. Sathavahana defeated V.P. Siddhartha 40-8 and VSR & NVR College (Tenali) 37-21, while SRR & CVR College also registered two wins beating V.P. Siddhartha and VSR & NVR College 22-8 and 26-21 respectively.
District-level meet
The Krishna District Sports Authority is organising a district-level meet-cum-trials for rural (U-16) boys and girls to participate in the AP State meets to be held at different places in the State. Interested players are asked to report at the respective venues to the officials concerned at 8 a.m. The schedule: Rural meets: kabaddi: (boys): ZPH School, Oct. 31 and girls Oct. 20; kho-kho (girls): IGMC stadium, Oct. 31; volleyball, archery: IGMC stadium (boys and girls) Nov. 6; weightlifting: (boys and girls) Nov. 11 at IGMC stadium; football: Care and Share Charitable Trust, Buddhavaram, (Nov. 6); athletics (boys and girls) Nov. 12 and 13 at CBR Academy, Ketanakonda. Women meet: Handball, tennis at IGMC stadium and hockey at MBP Stadium on Oct. 20.
Subha Niketan wins
Kakinada's Subha Niketan School and host Samivda Vidya Niketan of Vijayawada won the overall championships in U-19 and U-14 sections respectively in the CBSE South Zone taekwondo championship.
Land allotted
Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to allot 7.28 acres of land to Andhra Cricket Association at Madhuravada (Pothinamallyapalem) in Visakhapatnam for the construction of a full-fledged indoor cricket academy. The academy is to have all the modern facilities as specified by the National Cricket Academy.
