Dr. Ambedkar BC claims title

BANGALORE: Dr. Ambedkar Basketball Club claimed the State `C' division basketball league title with a 59-42 victory over K.S. Hegde Club, Mangalore in the final at Sree Kanteerava Stadium courts on Wednesday.

Both the teams were promoted to the `A' division.

In the last league tie of the `A' division, which had already been won by MEG, Vijaya Bank defeated HAL 59-43.

The results:

`A' division: Vijaya Bank 59 (Murali Mohan 20, M. Basvaraj 20) bt HAL 43 (Raj Kumar 11, Sachindra 12). `C' division (final): Dr. Ambedkar BC 59 (Shreyas 14, Karan Sood 12, Ananth 10) bt K.S. Hegde Club 42 (Nitin Shetty 26).

Final placings: 1. MEG, 2. Vijaya Bank, 3. HAL, 4. ASC, 5. Sports Hostel, 6. JSC, 7. KSP, 8. Beagles, 9. BEML, 10. SBI.

Mallya Aditi IS in final

Mallya Aditi International School and St. Joseph's HS set up a title clash in the boys' U-17 section of the Baldwin Shield inter-school football tournament here on Wednesday. In the semifinals, MAIS defeated Bishop Cotton BHS 3-0 and St. Joseph's BHS humbled Baldwin HS 3-0.

BHEL beats MICO SC

BHEL scored an easy 25-11, 25-14, 25-17 win over MICO Sports Club in the State `B' division volleyball league championship here on Wednesday.

Srinivasamurthy shines

B.V. Srinivasamurthy defeated G. Vishwnath 438-237 in the 37th State senior ranking billiards tournament here.

In the other matches, Amit Bhushan beat S.K. Balakrishna 297-262 while Sohail Jairaj prevailed over Joginder Singh 326-256.

State-level road race
